The truth be known, I never thought that WWE would ever place one of its top titles on Jeff Hardy. If not for his wellness issues, his ring performance and popular support would have earned him the nod long ago. With Hardy getting shot after shot though, he had to win at some point or lose all credibility in the challenging role.

As for the future, barring a GM ordered rematch against Edge, Vladimir Kozlov could be back as a challenger. Kozlov interfered in the main event match and defeated Jeff’s brother, Matt Hardy, in the PPV opener. The ongoing “who attacked Jeff Hardy” mystery also lingers with the obvious candidate Edge no longer likely to be ID’d as the culprit.

Miz pinned Kingston to score the winning fall last Saturday night in Hamilton, Ontario just the day before Kingston’s partner CM Punk will wrestle Rey Mysterio to determine the new #1 Intercontinental title contender. The title win is the second for the still ECW-based Miz & Morrison as a tag combo, the first for this particular ‘World’ set of belts.

The sudden title change could be a means to a) heighten the already strong push for The Miz and John Morrison, b) free CM Punk to pursue Intercontinental gold without a cumbersome tag team obligation and/or c) conveniently allow Kofi Kingston to be backburnered.

Ten episodes had been taped for the original Showcase run with the airings eventually going into reruns while the National Wrestling Alliance and Big Vision Entertainment reconsidered their options. What resulted was the taping of new program “NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood” which is still being shopped for syndication along with the revival of Showcase on Colours.

“NWA Wrestling Showcase” will return on Wednesday, January 28 with regular Friday airings at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT on Colours TV (channel 9407 on Dish Network), live streaming on ColoursTV.org.
